DELL, we want a free software computerDELL, vogliamo un computer libero

There are three simple things you can ask Dell using their LIVE CHAT on the website but most of all by phone.

Our ideal computer (desktop, laptop, subnotebook) has:

  1. an Atheros wireless chip because it uses free (as in freedom) drivers and so it can function perfectly in every GNU/Linux distribution.
  2. the coreboot free BIOS.
  3. a fully free GNU/Linux distribution preinstalled like gNewSense

No other company offers something like that and the request for such a product is high, as demonstrated by the famous Mark Shuttlework post about a free software laptop.

Dell could be the first company to create such a wonderful product and, as Asus did for the EEE Pc, could really create a new market.

The main problem is that Dell didn’t understand this yet and it’s for this reason we MUST INSIST WITH OUR CALLS AND OUR CHATS.

Together we can win.

This time the goal is really high so I really need all your help:

  • please contact Dell (via live chat or phone) asking a computer as described above
  • link this website
  • write to your favourite/famous blog or website asking them to talk about this campaign
  • write a post on your blog/website inviting your readers to join this campaign
  • send a txt or an email to all your friends and coworkers and ask them to join this campaign

YOU are the real force behind this campaign.

Fight for your freedom now!

Solo insieme possiamo farcela.

Fatevi valere!

    But the more the merrier.

    @Praveen
Yes, I own a Lemote Yeeloong too but it’s important that more and more companies start selling fully free software laptop.

  5. GnuGuru says:

I couldn’t agree with you more there need to be more fully free computers to include wireless internet, graphics, and the bios. Currently you the Yeeloong is not available in the USA and it is not available with a 120v plug.
