Desde algunos meses tememos Lemote Yeeloong, La primer laptop
completamente de software libre, pero que hay acerca de gNewSense
nuestra distribución favorita completamente software libre?

Nosotros finalmente completamos gNewSense mips-l, nuestros port
de la distribución gNewSense a la arquitectura MIPS por lo que
ahora somos capaces de ultizar un ordenador portátil completamente
de software libre con software libre.

Nosotros estamos reparando los últimos bugs de gNewSense mips-l pero
la distribución es muy estable y utilizable por todos
así que te invito a comprar una Lemote Yeeloong y probarla.

FSFLA is the Latin American organization member of the international network of FSFs, Free Software Foundations.

There are several direct and indirect ways to participate and contribute to FSFLA’s work and objectives.

Since some months we have Lemote Yeeloong, the first fully free software laptop but what about gNewSense, our fully free software favourite distribution?

We finally completed gNewSense mips-l, our port of the gNewSense distribution to the mips architecture so now we are able to use a fully free software laptop with a fully free software distribution!

We are fixing the latest gNewSense mips-l bugs but the distribution is really stable and usable by everyone so I invite you to do buy a Lemote Yeeloong and try it out.

Da alcuni mesi possiedo un Lemote Yeeloong, il primo portatile completamente libero ma cosa fare con gNewSense, la nostra distribuzione preferita e completamente libera?

Abbiamo finalmente completato gNewSense mips-l, il nostro port di gNewSense per l’architettura mipsel cosi’ ora siamo in grado di usare un portatile completamente libero con una distribuzione completamente libera!

Stiamo correggendo gli ultimi bug ma gNewSense mips-l e’ veramente stabile e utilizzabile da tutti. Vi invito ad acquistare un Lemote Yeeloong e provarla.

Don’t buy the Dell Mini InspironNon comprare il Dell Mini Inspiron

Dell is disappointing us again.

The Dell Mini Inspiron 10 and 12 contain a video card with an Intel GMA 500 chipset that needs a proprietary firmware to function.

This is a great problem. I was going to suggest it as a possibility to buy a laptop where people could install gNewSense without paying the Microsoft Tax.

Unfortunately Dell is disappointing our expectations.

People keep asking Dell to be able to use a computer with a fully free software distribution like gNewSense.

The Dell Mini inspiron is not the only laptop that denies you the freedom to use your computer as you wish.

Contact Dell and tell them you want to buy a free software laptop.

Our ideal computer (desktop, laptop, netbook) has:

  1. an Atheros wireless chip because it uses free (as in freedom) drivers and so it can function perfectly in every GNU/Linux distribution.
  2. the coreboot free BIOS.
  3. a fully free GNU/Linux distribution preinstalled like gNewSense

Please help me spreading this campaign on the web with all the tools you know: send this news to slashdot, write about it on your blog, website or mailing list, share it on identi.ca.Ancora una volta Dell e’ fonte di delusione.

Vengo a sapere che il Dell mini inspiron 10” e 12” contengono una scheda grafica con chipset Intel GMA 500 per far funzionare il quale serve un firmware proprietario.

Ero quasi tentato di consigliare il Dell mini inspiron con GNU/Linux come portatile da usare con gNewSense senza dover pagare la tassa microsoft.

Purtroppo vedo che ancora una volta Dell delude le aspettative di quelli che chiedono a gran voce di poter usare un computer solamente con software libero come gNewSense.

Il Dell Mini inspiron non e’ il solo a negarti la liberta’ di usare il tuo computer come vuoi tu.

Contatta Dell e fagli sapere che desideri acquistare un portatile completamente libero.

Il nostro computer ideale (desktop, laptop, netbook)  ha:

  1. un chipset wireless Atheros perche’ utilizza un driver libero e cosi’ puo’ funzionare perfettamente in ogni distribuzione di GNU/Linux
  2. il BIOS libero Coreboot.
  3. una distribuzione di GNU/Linux completamente libera preinstallata come gNewSense

The Federal Trade Commission is hosting a Town Hall event along
with the Public Policy Clinic at the University of Washington School
 of Law to discuss what they are unfortunately calling "Digital
Rights Management." It would have been better if they had used
the more accurate name -- Digital Restrictions Management -- but
it is nonetheless an important chance for you to speak out
against technology that infringes on our fundamental freedoms.

Our application to be included as a panelist at the event
was rejected. Fortunately, there will be good people from
other organizations who get it, like the Electronic Frontier
Foundation and Public Knowledge -- but we need you there to support
them and to make sure the voice of the Defective By Design campaign
is heard.

Please let us know that you will be attending at

Our goal is to make sure the tough questions get asked of people
representing the MPAA and other DRM pushers, and to distribute
handouts about DRM and Defective By Design to people attending

Tuxmobil.org, a great reference site authored by Werner
Heuser, with numerous installation guides and howtos for mobile devices running GNU/Linux, has just created a new page about the laptops developed and manufactured by Lemote Tech.

Lemote Tech has proved in the past months to be a key contributor to gNewSense mips-l, our porting effort of the gNewSense distribution to the MIPS architecture, a project endorsed by the Free Software Foundation.
