This pad is a censorship device because of a built-in technology called DRM.

They say that DRM means Digital Rights Management but from our point of view DRM means Digital RESTRICTIONS Management because it restricts what you can do with your device:  it tells you what applications you can install, what files you can share and where, and other malicious anti-features.

I invite you to sign this petition to ask Steve Jobs to drop all the DRM from the iPad before it hits the market.

A new version of a fully free software GNU browser called GNU IceCat is out.

GNU IceCat is the GNU version of the Mozilla Firefox browser.

This new version includes all the bug fixes present in Firefox 3.5.4
plus some minor changes.

The gNewSense project is pleased to announce version 2.3 of its 100% FSF Free GNU/Linux distribution, in the form of a point update to the release codenamed ‘deltah’.

Users of earlier gNewSense releases can update to 2.3 by using the standard system update procedure.

A short list of changes for this release is:

• Freedom bugs fixed:
• 3 new packages freed
• Over 15 packages removed
• Over 20 sourceless files removed from Linux

Changes on the Install CD:

• Removed Tomboy
• Removed Fspot
• Added gNote
• Added gthumb
• Added JFS
• Added XFS

This release contains all security updates made up to 2009-09-11.

As with other 2.x releases, this gNewSense release is available as a
live cd for x86 (i386) systems, using GNOME as the default desktop
environment (others such as XFCE or KDE are available post
installation).

Il progetto gNewSense e’ orgoglioso di annunciare la versione 2.3 della sua distribuzione GNU/Linux approvata dalla FSF, in forma di aggiornamento alla versione  ‘deltah’.

Gli utenti delle precedenti versioni di gNewSense possono aggiornare alla 2.3 usando il sistema standard di aggiornamento.

Un breve elenco delle novita’ di questa versione:

• Bug relativi alla liberta’ dei pacchetti corretti
• Tre nuovi pacchetti liberati
• Oltre quindici pacchetti rimossi
• Oltre venti file senza sorgenti rimossi dal kernel Linux (che di default non e’ libero)

Cambiamenti nel CD di installazione:

• Rimosso Tomboy
• Rimosso Fspot
• Aggiunto gNote
• Aggiunto gthumb
• Aggiunto supporto per filesystem JFS
• Aggiunto supporto per filesystem XFS

Questa versione contiene tutti gli aggiornamenti di sicurezza fatti fino al 11/09/2009.

Come per le altre versioni 2.x, questa versione e’ disponibile come live cd per architetture x86 (i386) e usa GNOME come ambiente desktop di default
 (altri ambienti come XFCE o KDE sono disponibili in fase di post-installazione).
